Ministry Philosophy
The drive of every church should be the passion to reach the unchurched and to make disciples. Everything that occurs in ministry should, in some way or another, be aimed at this target. This philosophy can be summarized by the following values:
BIBLICAL FOUNDATION
A ministry should be centered on Biblical truth, not man-made beliefs or religious traditions. We must evaluate everything we do in light of what Scripture actually says, not what we think it says or hope it says.
A HEART TO KNOW GOD
A passion for God is the motivation for all ministries. A burning desire to pursue the life and teaching of Jesus must define our actions and be the rhythm of our heartbeat.
MISSIONAL MINDSET
It’s critical that ministry be “others” focused, with outreach at its core. Living a life of mission. In other words, mission is something we do here and now (how we live our lives daily), not just something we support (send others to do).
CREATIVE COMMUNICATION
Presenting the gospel in a variety of spiritually stimulating and culturally relevant ways is essential in connecting people to God. Our message never changes, but our methods must always be expanding.
UNDERSTANDING THE CULTURE
It is imperative to understand the culture by being social anthropologists. We must view the community God has placed us in as a mission field: how do we serve them; not how do they serve us.
KEEP RELATIONSHIPS PRIMARY
Interaction between church staff, leaders, members, and volunteers is critical for ministry that is personal and relational in nature, connecting within the church and outside the church.
EXCELLENCE AND CREATIVITY
God’s creative nature is within every person. Creativity and excellence in worship, arts, and the message brings life: God invented it, Jesus modeled it, the Holy Spirit empowers it, and people desperately need it.
